84 projects get $92M in funding

The state Transportation Commission has approved about $92 million in federal funding for 84 projects to develop downtowns, make school routes safer and improve trails and bikeways across the state, including several in Western Pennsylvania.

The projects include allocations from the Home Town Streets, Safe Routes to Schools and Transportation Enhancement programs. Those programs receive federal grant money, which the state Transportation Commission distributes.

Local projects and their federal allocations follow.

 

           Allegheny County

  • Frick Park trail extension, Pittsburgh, $373,750
  • Edgewood Railroad Station rehabilitation, $250,000

     

  • J.R. Taylor Memorial Bridge, Bethel Park, $750,000

     

  • Bates Street/Eliza Furnace Trail Bridge replacement, Pittsburgh, $450,000

     

  • East Carson Street safety improvements, South Side, $373,750

     

  • Forbes and Fifth Avenue safety improvements, Oakland, $483,000

     

  • Anderson and Sandusky Street underpass improvements, North Side, $781,250

     

  • Fifth Avenue in McKeesport revitalization, $929,000

     

  • Mon Wharf ramp improvements, $500,000

     

  • Convention center riverfront park, $500,000

     

  • Fifth-Forbes avenues improvements, Downtown, $1 million

     

  • Brentwood stair improvements, $163,628

    Armstrong County

     

  • Roaring Run Trail-Phase IV, $399,050

     

  • Apollo beautification project, $714,338

     

  • Ford City improvements, $305,275

    Beaver County

     

  • Aliquippa School District pedestrian trails, $404,800

    Butler County

     

  • Rochester Road pedestrian improvements, Cranberry, $143,750

    Washington County

     

  • Montour Trail Phase 19-Morganza Bridge, Canonsburg, $425,602

     

  • Pennsylvania Trolley Museum upgrades, $376,000; $350,000 for car rehabilitation

    Westmoreland County

     

  • Murrysville streetscape project, $618,667

     

  • Irwin streetscape project, $2 million
